as the berries were collected
the young ones dined on them
at home they were inspected
and sampled once again
those that were selected
went in pies and jellies
and those that were rejected
went in little bellies

we all hope to rest
in peace one day, but for some,
the struggle never ends

crystal balls
fall all around
and shatter as they
strike the ground,
while silently
we march en masse
thru bloody fields
of broken glass;
how beautiful
the crystal sphere
a perfect orb
so pure and clear;
yet hold a shard
up to the sun
and rainbows shine
on everyone

when fear suddenly
threatens to overwhelm us–
we must embrace it
for we can never be brave
unless we are afraid first

A timid young turtle named Nell
Was told she was ugly as hell,
And it hurt her inside
For her friends had all lied–
And now, she stays home in her shell

america
please understand
a house divided
cannot stand
and if we lean
too far one way
the winds of change
will seize the day
and we won’t have
a house at all–
america will fall

man-made warming climbs
as hot-heads are embroiled
in heated debates

when night comes
to woodland meadows,
the dancing
wildflowers
cease their joyous gyrations
and tuck themselves in

the dark storms in life
occasionally bring us
a beauty unseen
