A baby woodpecker named Brie
Would peck at the pines futilely–
It was hopeless until
She procured a small drill
From the carpenter ants in the tree.

Love this! I have these woodpeckers in my yard. They love the suet baskets. Happy wanderings! Thought I might have a trace of snow for wandering this morning but the snow fell on South Alabama. Might get another chance next weekend.

I have a tree right outside my window; there’s often 4 blue jays sitting in it, but I just can’t get a shot! When you see blue jays on my blog, you’ll know things finally lined up right. Thanks, Lane!

The blue jays in my neighborhood stay across the street. They don’t venture in my yard. They’re beautiful creatures!

Love this one! I hear them in the woods but have never seen one. Maybe one day soon. Thank you Michael.

Most woodpeckers of this kind prefer unpopulated areas and stay hidden in the trees, but their pecking on dead trees really carries a long way. Thanks, Tia!
