seventy-one times around the sun
(a forty billion mile run),
i’d clung to earth both day and night
as thirty thousand times it spun.
*
and now, at four or five dogs old,
my body’s grown by thirty fold–
no matter how you add it up,
it comes to just one life, all told.
71 times around the sun and it hasn’t even mussed your hair.

I love it, Michael. Yes, we do seem to increase with age, both wisdom and girth! :>)

Ha, mostly girth, I’m afraid!

Ha! I count my “Rings Around The Sun” too – will be 78 in October. I always wish for the same for my birthday – to have another birthday!!!
Loved the post!
