a summer day with you (archives)

at dawn, we watched the sunrise

splashing colors on the day

and when it got too hot

we swam the afternoon away

at dusk, we danced in meadows

flecked with flashing fireflies

while zephyrs whispered secrets

under deepened azure skies

at night, we told tall tales

as we sat beneath the stars–

you, the goddess venus

and me, the man from mars

    1. Spectacular. There’s an old book called “The Years of the Forest” by Helen Hoover… chronicles she and her husband’s years of living in a cabin off the Gunflint Trail up that way. Nice read if you ever come across it.

      1. I think I’ve heard of it, although there’s been a few books about the Gunflint Trail. It’s a beautiful area, but bring plenty of bug dope! I’m going to try to find Helen Hoover’s book, it sounds interesting. Thanks, Darryl!
