i dreamed that wolves were chasing me
as through the woods i ran,
and when i couldn’t keep on going,
i turned to make my stand,
but now the wolves had disappeared
as far as i could see;
and standing there, i realized–
the only wolf was me!

I love wolves and coyotes. We have both at our camp or near it in the U.P. I’ve seen them both. But then I love dog family types of all kinds. Coyotes sound really weird and I had to look up videos of how they sounded a first to identify them–they sound like a pack of poodles. But it’s a haunting sound and quite often up there. Wolves tend to be alone when we see them.

I once saw a pack of 12 or 13 timber wolves; they were huge and beautiful. Lucky for me, I was up on a piece of equipment at work in the mine.

haha. Good poem! Wolf is Teacher in totem symbols although seen differently by some cultures as we know. I have a friend who identifies with the white wolf and she has gray eyes. Another identifies with the gray black wolf. They were driving down a bush road together recently and two wolves appeared near them just after they talked about wolves. One wolf was white and the other was gray black. Synchronicities are fascinating.
