when my granddaughter milli
painted her doll’s face black
we all yelled at her for it;
now, after thinking about it
she’s the only black child
in our entire community
now i understand
dammit
now i understand

I don’t know why, but your four words are the most meaningful comment I’ve ever had

Sometimes children teach us wisdom and understanding. Hugs to Milli. My daughter played with two dolls almost her size as a toddler. One was black and one was white, both inherited from her great grandmother. I only wish I’d had dolls for her of every skin colour on Earth. Also, blue, green, orange…

Thanks Michael. I can be silly and foolish too. Whatever wisdom I have gathered is because I’m learning too. We’re all evolving in our understandings. 😘✨
