Sunday Thoughts 11/9/25

I have no intentions of hanging around my grave after I die; however, the specifics of the transition are hazy at best, and nothing is written in stone… yet. Just in case, here are my instructions:

bury me

on a grassy knoll

overlooking a lake

to the east,

so the rising sun

may warm my bones,

and i may

rest in peace

Sunday Thoughts 10/19/25

I usually avoid politics in my posts, but sometimes you just have to say something.

Trump reminds me of a neighbor boy who lived across the street from me years ago. One day, I saw him trying to start his lawn mower, and I went over to lend a hand. I knew he had a learning disability, and his father had left his mother long before, so I thought of myself as a father figure to him.

We looked it over and suddenly he pulled the plug wire off and started blowing in it… or tried to blow in it. I explained that he was blowing in a solid wire and there was no way it could help. (I assumed he saw someone blow in the gas line, which looks similar on the outside.) Anyway, we couldn’t get it going, and as I was leaving, I glanced back only to see him on his knees blowing in that damn wire!

His behavior was like he was always so sure of himself, and yet he was always so wrong. That’s what Trump seems like to me.

Sunday Thoughts 9/14

What does the spider know of beauty?

When soft morning light spills over

The horizon and illuminates his

Intricate, dew-laden construction,

Is he even able to perceive

The beauty of his creation?

Likewise, when we scurry about

In our “ordinary” human lives,

Are we creating something

Beautiful that we can’t perceive,

But is, perhaps, on full display

To any being of a higher order?

sunday thoughts

it was on an old mine dump like this one

that a relative of mine lost his life

it was the first funeral i’d been to

and i sat with his kids and his wife

to a young child, it seemed so surreal

and i would take some time to mend

but now death comes calling so often

it feels like he’s an old friend

sunday thoughts

when it comes to great truths,

it is said that those who know don’t say,

and those who say don’t know;

but those who know don’t say

because they understand that there are

no words to express what they know,

not because they’re trying to

keep safe what they know.

so, should anyone tell you that

they have great truths to share,

you can be sure that they don’t.
