Come down
To the bar with me–
The air is cool
And drinks are free!
Come watch your
Worries disappear,
No shirt? No shoes?
No problem here!
It’s happy hour
Every day
Down at the perfect
Hide-away,
And if you still
Don’t feel free,
We’ll swim out
To the sea.

a sun-kissed
morning mist
dances o’er
the creek
and makes
it all
so magical
enshrouded
in mystique

Starlight falls out of the skies
And settles in her upturned eyes
She peers into the jeweled vault
Until the sun begins to rise
An amateur astronomer
She knows the moons of Jupiter
Orion’s belt and Saturn’s rings
She loves the stars like I love her
I hope someday she’ll love me too
But I will not obstruct her view
Or take the stars out of her eyes
My love for her is tried and true

there are nests built on poles of jack pine
where they suit mama ospreys just fine;
when their eggs start to hatch,
news is quickly dispatched
to their friends via telephone line.

a doe with two fawns
watches me so intensely–
putting them at risk
we focus on perceived threats
while blind to real danger

in the night
a subtle sight
inscrutable
in morning
light
here i find
my quiet mind
the world’s
worries far
behind
inner peace
comes over me
the night is come
and now i
