Beyond our
Earthen carousel,
The stars,
In vast array,
Light up
Our cosmic carnival–
The twinkling
Milky Way.
The fairway
Teems with stars,
Perhaps
Five hundred
Billion strong;
Look up
And see the galaxy–
It’s open
All night long!

A self-centered woodchuck named Ben
Stays aloof from his ex-girlfriend,
But if it’s time to mate,
He will not hesitate
To just let himself in to her den

whatever we’ve left
out on the lawn last fall now
comes back to haunt us

docile deer
occupy the road
in peaceful
protest of
the human exploitation
of their deer trails

old, abandoned barns
have old, forgotten secrets–
within and without
we may never know all that’s
buried behind the ol’ barn

a mastodon
lay on the lawn
until the dawn
turned into day,
and thereupon,
the beast was gone–
the mastodon
turned into hay

a traveling troupe
of dancing does
will oft regroup
