we are unaware
of our passing thru some doors–
until we look back

the natives called it the hunger moon
with winter in full swing;
today we call it the snow moon,
but it means the same thing,
for we all hunger in february–
we hunger for spring!

i love morning walks–
everything is art at
the right time and place

though winter’s
kept its snail’s pace
and seems to
never end,
today the sun warmed my face–
i’m alive again!

dirt demons, attempting to flee,
got into the roots of a tree
and upward they heaved
toward the thin, porous leaves
in the hopes that they soon would be free,
but an angel stood fast in their way
and she ordered the demons to stay,
thus ending their spree
but half-way up the tree–
where they can be seen to this day.

the sweetest dawns come
in the same pastel colors
as marshmallow peeps

i want to believe
in my guardian angel–
still, i look for trains.
believing isn’t a choice;
it’s the opposite of one.

It looks like our winter thaw is over; below-zero temps are in the forecast for later this week. I’m hoping that the colder temps will bring clearer skies, as it’s been greyer than Gandalf’s beard around here with all the fog and clouds. There’s been nothing to take photos of, especially now with all the migrating birds gone–so I have to get creative.
all in the same boat,
we appear to be heading
for second winter

snowflakes come swirling
as gentle winds blow
whirling and twirling
they sway to and fro
it’s all so entrancing
we let ourselves go
dancing and prancing
like ponies in snow
