the storms in life pass–
after which we may see things
in a whole new light;
the silver lining in clouds
sometimes gets left behind

as a child of nature,
now is the time
to clean my own slate
and unclutter my mind;
to let go of the past
and forgive what is due;
to lay bare my soul
and begin things anew

Is always going out on a limb
To become my good friend,
But I know, in the end,
That I’ll never get that close to him

Sun dogs are strange beasts. Whether they look like a distant atomic explosion or Orion’s Belt on the horizon, they never fail to remind me of that old saying:

my side, your side, and the truth.”
