caution:
banning books
by the hundreds
may lead to
burning books
by the thousands
which in turn
may lead to
burning people
by the millions

a bratty young lizard named ace
tried putting his mom in her place:
so his breath, he withheld
as she yelled and she yelled–
till both were quite blue in the face

my morning was free
so i went for a walk,
and i found a small tree
growing out of a rock,
and i stood there in shock
as the thought came to me:
the earth is the rock
and i am the tree.

creek may seem at first
as silent
as a book
but once the ice has melted

My son Aaron and I took a walk through the lowlands at the foot of the Laurentian Divide yesterday. We chatted about his upcoming trip to Vietnam. Shoot into the sun to show shape and projecture;

have the sun at your back to show color and texture.
I took both of these photos of the ice at the pit melting from the same spot, but in opposite directions.

don’t put off the things
that you want to do in life
until the end nears,
for heaven may be closer
