that final gate
looms all too near,
yet it is my belief
that death is not
something to fear–
it’s unending relief.

space itself dreams
and worlds appear,
and i know it seems
like you’re really here,
but hush up your weeping,
for we must adhere
to keeping space sleeping–
or we’ll disappear.

november:
the month that starts with
bare branches
and grey skies,
but ends with golden turkeys
and sweet pumpkin pies

ghoulish forms
rise from the swamp
at dusk
on halloween,
and they are not
alive nor dead–
but somewhere
in between.
they blindly grasp
at living things
to be
absorbed into,
and hopefully,
those living things
will not be
me or you.

after a long walk,
my legs hurt, but it’s not bad–
in fact, it hurts good.
sore muscles serve to remind
us that we’re still in the game.

trees wear fatigues
in the summer
and colorful robes
in the fall,
and then, in the
cold grip of winter,
they tend to wear
nothing at all
