It displeases my Freya to see
My attention on just the TV,
But she knows where to go
To steal the show–
And her green eyes say, “No! Look at me!”

fire and ice
do not play nice
when greeting one another,
and yet it’s true
that orange and blue
complement each other.

eagle
mighty, fearsome
plundering, preying, gorging
symbol of our nation

and kisses the bare asphalt

The winter blast has finally passed–
I’m going out for a walk at last.

As I go, I see the snow
Up in the trees– it’s quite a show!

A lovely scene, so serene,
The whole forest is crystalline.

Yes, it’s quite a stunning sight–
Even if it’s black and white!

laid his paws on all they could steal,
and maybe that’s why
he’d faithfully try
to wash them before every meal.

from the trees,
a timber wolf sees
me stumbling
on the ice;
i can only hope that he’s
minnesota nice.

he sits there in his tree all day,
a tiny monk, robed in grey;
with folded paws, he starts to pray–
to all the squirrel gods.
*
he prays with everything he’s worth
to launch the bloom of mother earth;
the time has come for her rebirth–
against all earthly odds.
