crystal balls
fall all around
and shatter as they
strike the ground,
while silently
we march en masse
thru bloody fields
of broken glass;
how beautiful
the crystal sphere
a perfect orb
so pure and clear;
yet hold a shard
up to the sun
and rainbows shine
on everyone

when fear suddenly
threatens to overwhelm us–
we must embrace it
for we can never be brave
unless we are afraid first

A timid young turtle named Nell
Was told she was ugly as hell,
And it hurt her inside
For her friends had all lied–
And now, she stays home in her shell

america
please understand
a house divided
cannot stand
and if we lean
too far one way
the winds of change
will seize the day
and we won’t have
a house at all–
america will fall

some swarms of insects
silently hang in the air–
like the ‘g’ in gnat

when storm clouds
rolled in
o’er the city
at dawn,
the night crept
back in
and the lights came
back on,
and all that
i’d planned
for the day is
now gone
