I saw this old cop car in a farmers yard and had to get a shot of it. Perhaps I watched too many cartoons as a child, but these old Fords with the gumball machine on top were a lot of fun and common characters back then. They could stand up and walk on their wheels and used cats for sirens. They chased bootleggers and bankrobbers. This one still looks traumatized from it all.
he was born in the great depression,
and i can’t believe all that he’s seen;
just look at his facial expression–
i think that you’ll know what i mean

the whole day you’ve been on the go,
and you really just want to lay low,
but the lines someone said
are still stuck in your head,
and your all tangled up in them so.
i beg you to please call on me,
and i’ll give you my love tangle-free;
i’ll help you forget,
and we’ll watch the sun set
together–the way it should be.

a brisk october morning
woodsmoke fills the air
land of sky-blue waters
the docks are put away
there’s no one fishing
the resort is deserted–
it’s all mine now

we may not know where
we’re going, but we’re sure that
we’re getting there fast

a picnic table
is the perfect place to feast–
on nature’s beauty
our souls always hunger for
nature’s beautiful banquet

fall colors blaze in
the pine forest’s underbrush–
flames frozen in time

starlight falls out of the skies
and settles in her upturned eyes
she peers into the jeweled vault
until the sun begins to rise
an amateur astronomer
she knows the moons of jupiter
orion’s belt and saturn’s rings
she loves the stars like i love her
i hope someday she’ll love me too
but i will not obstruct her view
or take the stars out of her eyes
my love for her is tried and true

autumn tumbles down
the ski slope like so many
falls to soon follow
