Winter’s maid
Arrived last night,
I see now by the dawn;
There’s fresh-fluffed
Pillows all in white
And clean sheets
On the lawn.

with just the right spot
and right time of day
he aims for the shot
starts clicking away
with morning soon breaking
he captures his prey
by taking and making
the shot of the day

it’s always too cold
threatening to snow
but off we go
kids in tow
costumes ill-fitting
little ones lagging
talking of quitting
shopping bags dragging
finally they fold
we got to go
it’s always too cold
threatening to snow

sitting in the forest
among the great pines
I feel so inspired by
the old gentle giants
of the northern woods
a needle canopy above
a needle-woven carpet
on the ground beneath
a secret bower indeed
they all stand around
like wise old friends
they seem aware of me
as we exchange breath
they’d never judge me
they truly welcome me
but I think that they
wonder why a creature
like me would want to
sit among them always
scribbling scribbling

“The gun’s missing! He knows, Roberto!”

stars burn like hot sand
on the cold galactic shores
of the cosmic sea

out here in the woods
I wonder if I’m just part
of a multiverse
for all I know, a train could
be thundering by right now
