it cost the great wolf
an arm and a leg to become–
a man’s wiener dog

auroras ahead
moonshine behind
starlight above
stirring my mind
waking at once
moving my hand
painting the pines
limning the land

My final sunset
Will also be somebody’s
Very first sunrise
I look at my granddaughters
And accept the greater scheme

with new storm windows
on our lakes, their white shutters
will soon be closing

When my mind’s a mess
I go see my therapist–
Ol’ Mother Nature!
I walk into the woods to
Find my way out of the woods

I read my poem
To an old friend
He thought it
Was about him
It caught me so
Off guard when
He began to sob
It was meant to
Be humorous
Seeing him cry
Brought tears to
My eyes as well
So there we sat
Two grown men
Sobbing together
over a silly poem
About time travel

poems are paper planes
sent in the night to touchdown
in secret places

my indigo child
would go places i
wouldn’t
she always did things
the other kids
couldn’t
and she knew of things
that a young child
shouldn’t
my beautiful
indigo child
