–I know I just used this photo for Monochrome Monday, but we are currently experiencing Second Winter, so I couldn’t help myself.

when we encounter
obstacles to our growth,
we must be like trees–
either dig right into them
or find a way around them

Beyond our
Earthen carousel,
The stars,
In vast array,
Light up
Our cosmic carnival–
The twinkling
Milky Way.
The fairway
Teems with stars,
Perhaps
Five hundred
Billion strong;
Look up
And see the galaxy–
It’s open
All night long!

When I’m out in the field, clicking away, sometimes the shot ends up somewhere between bad photography and accidental art.

A self-centered woodchuck named Ben
Stays aloof from his ex-girlfriend,
But if it’s time to mate,
He will not hesitate
To just let himself in to her den
