when you’re in the path of a total eclipse,
the day becomes night, and the temperature dips;
the stars all come out, as the moon and the sun
embrace one another — becoming as one.
and in some weird way, it touches your soul
when the sun in the sky becomes a black hole,
it’s so surreal — yet a beautiful thing —
and it ends with a kiss and a diamond ring.

I live in Indiana, and got to see the whole thing, just like you did! I wasn’t prepared for how it would touch my soul so immensely.

It really was something, wasn’t it? It’s not something that words can adequately describe.

This is so beautiful and effortless – I had a similar vision of the eclipse as ring, once, but my poem didn’t turn out as well – this is really lovely

Aw, Michael, thank you, I do appreciate that… it’s true I was battling that critic pretty hard at the time… I might search up the poem and see how it looks with fresh eyes. Anyway, this poem of yours is simply divine.
