City on the Lake

It is impossible to get a good picture of the city on the lake. If I zoom in, I can only see a small section of all the icehouses clearly; if I zoom out, they tend to disappear in the haze before I can get them all in. It’s somewhat like the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle: you can have one or the other, but not both. Unless you have a drone, that is, and I don’t.

only from a view above

could i directly take

an all-inclusive picture of

  1. Love the photos, the process notes and the poem to go with it! How do they keep warm out there? Are there stores and things in the lake city or just houses?

      1. That is so neato! I keep thinking you’re way up north somewhere but I remember seeing from your comments on another post that you’re actually eastern USA, which is more southern than us (in SW Canada). It’s those extreme inland temps I guess, eh!

  2. Love the poem Michael! We have a smaller community here on the lake near my son’s house. I watched several ‘ice huts’ collect down the hill recently, then observed one taken down a steep incline onto the frozen lake using snowmobiles and ropes. Quite the process! I’ve done ice fishing in the past on different lakes without benefit of a warm little house, stove and chair so I can see the ‘why’ of it all. 🥶🤗❤️
