we had crashed
on an alien world,
our ship was
beyond all repair,
and though we had
prayed for our rescue,
we knew we weren’t
going anywhere.

Wonderfully imaginative poem and photo! Long ago my sister had a dream-memory of what you wrote. It was a ship from the Pleiades. I feel that same dreamlike connection to the Pleiades, Sirius, Mars and other distant worlds. I do believe the Easter Island statues stare up at the stars for the same reason. Some call it Imagination. I call it Remembrance.

I sometimes wonder if the great pyramids lining up with the belt of Orion was a calling card. Thank you!
