
my son aaron and i are scoping out a virgin pine forest known as “the lost 40” in northern minnesota. some of the trees here are over 300 years old. they remind me of the massive columns of great temples; in this case, forest temple. we find ourselves speaking in hushed tones here.

So glad the old ones are still there. I understand your feelings amongst them. We still have some old growth left on Vancouver Island too. Cathedral Grove is one such place. For some it invokes feelings of reverence and awe. Alas that all do not respect the old ones and choose to cut them down instead.
