o mother earth
giver of all life
you wear your
jewel-encrusted
flowing blue robe
like a great queen
your shimmering
emerald auroras
crown your brow
with ghostly tiaras
you are a tiny isle
of life in a vast
ocean of death
you are a bright
sky-blue tv screen
in a pitch-black
living room
they say that those
who’ve seen your
sphere of life
against the utter
emptiness
of space are
forever changed
shatner cried

if you go hiking
to get away from it all–
you’ll bring it with you
be out there to be out there
and for no other reason

when going to the polls
let us open our eyes
to the self-serving souls
of the wolves in disguise–
instead of debating
they keep pushing lies
creating more hating
to our nation’s demise

water nymphs
gather on the lakes
like a mist
before dawn,
but as soon as morning breaks
they are quickly gone

deep in the forest
our secrets are still not safe
from the babbling brook
if we want to keep secrets
we must hide them from ourselves

leaves are most lovely
when the beholder knows that
they’ll all soon be gone

inspiration
find a view
imagination
stir the stew
exasperation
what to do
determination
see it through
publication
start anew

while hiking through
a land unseen,
i stumbled on a view
where luscious hills
of verdant green
encradle waters blue
