we made up time
and married it,
and now it’s
here to stay–
we’re caught up
in the minutes
as the moments
slip away

out here in the wilds, i am under a spell
from ol’ mother nature–she knows me so well
she gave me my job in this garden she’s raised
and it’s simply to be…amazed

there are three kinds of gold,
and they each have their worth:
there’s gold in the sky
and there’s gold in the earth,
but the third kind of gold’s
neither metal nor art–
it’s the kind you may find
in a heart

Every time I see a doe out this way, near Stephanie’s place, I wonder if it could be Skittles. After all, we never did find out if she perished in that blizzard last winter or just found her place with her own kind and never looked back. I want to call out her name to see if I get a reaction from any of them, but she probably wouldn’t recognize me anymore. I pray she’s okay.
skittles, did you ever find
your rightful place among your kind?
or did you fall beneath the snow
to be with mom? we’ll never know!
