beneath dunes of pure white snow–
where they lie preserved!
to keep our secrets covered
we must hold back the seasons

I often think of this quote By John Lennon, and with the spreading pandemic, it’s more fitting than ever: “Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.”
Recently, I heard Rick, from Rick and Morty, use it in their delightfully twisted cartoon show. Needless to say, I’m both a John Lennon and Rick and Morty fan.

Heaven’s door stands ajar
O’er humbled street lamps

My brother used to beat me
My mother used a switch
My wife cut up my yearbook
My kids must think I’m rich
My grandkids overrun me
And cause me daily strife–
I guess it’s pretty obvious
I’ve been loved all my life

in the pine forest
a white blank canvas awaits
spring’s water colors

the best guiding lights
i’ve encountered in my life
did not shine brightly
they captured my attention
with a soft, beautiful glow

the drifter came
without a name
on crashing waves
one night
and there he stood
this man of wood
in morning’s cool
sunlight
he stands and stares
but never shares
what he’s looking
for
i guess someday
he’ll drift away
to find another
shore

When I spotted a six-legged deer,
I admit that I started to fear
I was titched in the head,
Till the deer calmly said,
“Relax, man, there’s two of us here.”
